WordDetective.app is an online multiplayer word association game where players solve each other’s puzzles. You create a puzzle, and others attempt to crack it.

Hello, Word Game Enthusiasts!

I’m an indie app developer passionate about word association games. My goal is to create an online multiplayer experience where players can challenge each other in creative and logical thinking.

In WordDetective.app, you take on two roles:

  • Clue-Giver – Create word puzzles for future players.
  • Detective – Solve puzzles made by others.

Every decision is recorded, contributing to global stats and leaderboards in seven skill categories: Detective IQ, Creativity, Encoding, Social, Intuition, Deduction, and Critique.

How the Game Works

  • Create a puzzle by providing word association clues—the more connections, the better!
  • Publish it, and it becomes instantly available to players in your language.
  • Earn points when others successfully solve your puzzle (you can track all attempts in your Game History).
  • Prefer solving puzzles? Play in Detective Mode, where you analyze puzzles created by others.
  • Before starting a puzzle, you’ll see how many people attempted it and its success rate.
  • Set a high score or become the Puzzle Captain by solving it with the highest points.
  • If you love a puzzle, reward its creator with a Genius Token.

Game Modes

We currently offer three unique game modes, each inspired by a popular word game:

  • Hostage Crisis – If you enjoy Codenames, you’ll love this mode.
  • Serial Killer – Fans of Decrypto will feel right at home.
  • MadHouse – Inspired by my previous game, this mode combines word association mechanics with werewolf/mafia-style gameplay.

Is This a Co-Op Game?

Yes! Success depends on understanding how other players think. When you solve a puzzle, you and the creator both win—it’s a shared victory.

Why I Created This Game

Word association games like Codenames and Decrypto are fantastic because beginners can outsmart experienced players using creativity and logic instead of prior game experience.

Most word association apps require friends to play together in real time, which can be inconvenient. WordDetective.app solves this with an innovative character system:

  • Play anytime—no need to invite friends.
  • Each puzzle is created by a real person, not AI.
  • Your clues become in-game characters, evolving based on their effectiveness. If your clue is strong, it gains points; if weak, it loses HP and disappears.

So, whether you’re crafting clever clues or cracking tricky puzzles, there’s always a human mind behind the challenge!
